Car troubles

My car broke down on my way to work this morning. It started to make an awful
clunking noise, then some sputtering, and then it died–right in front
of a big glitzy gentlemen’s club. Luckily, I was able to roll the car a
few feet into the neighboring Burger King parking lot. Marc came to my rescue, of course.

And speaking of cars . . .

Maher, Kevin M. G., and Peter J. Rhein. Chilton’s General Motors Malibu/Cutlass 1997-00 Repair Manual.
Chilton’s total car care. West Chester, PA: W.G. Nichols, 2000.

I highly recommend the Chilton’s series of car repair books. Our library
used to have a subscription to Chilton’s Online, but we dropped it
because it didn’t get enough traffic. The books are kind of expensive,
so check to see if your local library has a copy before you purchase
your own. Another option is to buy your own personal subscription at Chiltondiy.com.

Three Quick Picks

The Neighbor

This is the best suspense novel I have ever read.

Gardner, Lisa. The Neighbor. New York: Bantam Books, 2009.

Basketball Jones

Basketball Jones is the last book E. Lynn Harris wrote before he passed away. It’s a fast-paced, glamorous story about love, betrayal, and basketball. Not for the homophobic.

Harris, E. Lynn. Basketball Jones. New York: Doubleday, 2009.

This entertaining page turner is part mystery, part ghost story, and part New York City chick lit.

Koslow, Sally. The Late, Lamented Molly Marx: A Novel. New York: Ballantine Books, 2009.
