Morst The Archive King: Pick of The Week...Trombones

Morst Declares Take My Trombone, Please…

MORST: PICK OF THE WEEK My focus in the fall time tends towards the Pioneertown campout, but I still get to see a good number of shows right here in my home town. The High Noon Saloon in Madison is one of my favorite places to see and record shows. Owned by Cathy Dethmers, who used to run O’cayz Corral, the place has a really friendly feel. With its hardwood floors, and nice sized stage for a venue of its size, it really seems conducive to loud music. But sometimes it can be a nice quiet concert venue. Here comes Rock Plaza Central again, opening for The Weakerthans. Weakerthans aren’t on the archive, so that’s not the pick here – Yep, it’s Rock Plaza Central again, for the 4th time in a year. Ever since they opened for Camper Van Beethoven in Chicago last November, I’ve really been getting into their sound. Very dynamic in concert, they can crackle and thump, or whisper and click.

Fifteen Hands is a song from their second-most-recent album, Are We Not Horses. Afterwards, Chris Eaton comments that the tune is a love song between an angel and a robot horse. Okay, then!? http://www.archive.org/details/RockPlazaCentral200 9-09-27.matrix
