Listening Theme 58 – Bob Dylan

by Paul Adams on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 4:55am

Okay, for all those of you that have been wondering why I haven’t had a Bob Dylan Listening Theme yet – relax, here it is!

The reason for the delay was that my main source of online music ( only had 30 second previews of Bob’s back catalogue, however now I’ve discovered with it’s full length tracks there’s no stopping me. Besides, it’s Bob’s 70th birthday on Tuesday so now seems a good a time as any.

You know the deal by now, let’s have your favourite Bob Dylan albums (solo or collaborations) or any notable Dylan cover versions by other artists and I’ll try to listen to as much as I can over the next couple of weeks.

Cheers Paul

  • Blood on the Tracks ois the most honored

Desire and The Basement Tapes are the most fun

  • Slow Train Coming and Shot of Love. It’s the only Christian rock music I like.

  • ps. Almost forgot U2. I like them and I guess you could consider them Christian Rock.

  • Michael D

I agree with The Basement Tapes completely. And Slow Train Coming is probably Dylan’s most under-appreciated and misunderstood album. One I still find powerful, regardless of religious belief.
I suppose Blonde on Blonde goes without saying, but I’m saying it anyway. It has to be my absolute favorite of all his albums. Likewise Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited are classics.
Modern Times is a great and recent album.
