Listening Theme 43 – Elektra Records
by Paul Adams on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 1:44pm
Hi all,
I wasn’t going to set a Listening Theme this week (I thought about having a week off) but after just reading an interesting article in MOJO magazine about Elektra Records (currently celebrating 60 years) I’m feeling inspired to check out some albums released on that label.
Got any favourites? Let’s have some recommendations and I’ll give them a listen.
Cheers, Paul
Starting off with:
THE BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND: East-West http://bit.ly/avxO5S
THE DOORS: Strange Days http://bit.ly/cBZsej
LOVE: Forever Changes http://bit.ly/b90NUz
… followed by:
MC5: Kick Out The Jams http://bit.ly/bdQsyD
BREAD: Baby I’m A Want You http://bit.ly/9lD1Je
THE STOOGES: The Stooges http://bit.ly/bBZw7c
Jimmie Dale Gilmore – he dropped a couple of great countryish albums for the boys at Elektra. Besides having an angelic voice, he was in The Big Lebowski… so you know he’s good.
Thanks Garod, gonna give “After Awhile” a try.
